Bamian Mountain

Bamian Mountain is located at Liye Town, Southern Longshan County of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, neighboring Youyang County and Xiushan County of Chongqing. Bamian Mountain not only looks like a ship from one side but also a sleeping beauty from another side. It is 22 kilometers long from north to south and about 5 kilometers wide, with the narrowest parting measuring only 2 kilometers. The mountain has a grasslands landform, and covers an area of 51.4 square kilometers with an average altitude of more than 1,200 meters and a highest peak of 1,414.5 meters. It is reputed as “a pearl of the grasslands in southern China” and a “grasslands in the sky”. The mountain is a natural barrier between Hunan and Chongqing.

Since its average altitude is over 1,200 meters, when sitting on the top of the mountain visitors can enjoy a bird’s-eye view.
